Clive Davis' J Records was the first recording album that Alicia Keys was signed with, and there she produced and wrote her debut album, Songs in A Minor. The album quickly climbed to platinum status, and began a bidding war among the different labels who wished to sign her to their company. In the end Alicia Keys chose Arista records, who won the bidding war.
